The HK-6010 by HawkeyeTech therefore stands out from billions of other IoT connected devices with the confirmation by the chip developers that it can be deployed easily and fast. This compact system is pretested and ready to be configured with Windows, VMWare, Linux and other BSD operating systems. Together with standard software of this ecosystem the HK-6010 is designed to meet the networking needs of many different industries.
HK-6010 IoT Gateway
The HawkeyeTech HK-6010 is a premium platform solution based on the NXP LS1046A SoC with packet processing acceleration and high-speed peripherals using four Arm Cortex-A72 performance cores. This chip provides hardware encryption and can be combined with up to 16 GB of DDR4-2100 memory. Storage is available through the internal mSATA interface and one microSD slot. There are four 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 network ports for Ethernet LAN and two 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45/SFP dual media ports for WAN access. Wireless connectivity can be added over a miniPCIe slot for 4G/LTE with 5G in planning. Wi-Fi is possible with M.2 modules. There are also two USB 3.0 ports, a SIM card slot for cellular networks and a microUSB connector for console access. All of this is packed into a compact form factor with the size of the device smaller than 202x186x45 mm.
The HK-6010 can be used in a variety of networking ways but its main purpose is the IoT gateway. This gateway is one of the critical components of the Internet of Things (IoT) and important in the context of fog computing. When other IoT devices with sensors generate tens of thousands of data points per second, an IoT gateway can preprocess that data locally at the edge before sending it on to the cloud. Data could be aggregated, summarized and tactically analyzed at the edge, so the IoT gateway could minimize the volume of data that needs to be transferred to the cloud. Companies could reduce huge costs in response times and network transmission. The IoT gateway can also provide additional security services for the IoT networking system and data transportation. Specifically for this purpose, the HK-6010 supports hardware acceleration for data encryption.
Arm SystemReady ES
The HK-6010 was validated under the Arm SystemReady compliance certification program to make certain that operating systems and subsequent layers of software “just work”. The device meets the SystemReady standards of Windows, VMware, Linux, and BSD OSes, offering seamless interoperability with standard operating systems, hypervisors, and software which ensures the deployment and maintenance of standard firmware interfaces and reduces the cost of maintaining multiple software versions. Compliant systems like the HK-6010 must conform to Arm’s Base System Architecture specification and the Server Base Boot Requirements specification to provide the necessary hardware, firmware and software requirements to boot successfully.
Under Arm’s SystemReady compliance program and the standards for the enablement of software and hardware developer ecosystems the HK-6010 allows simplified and faster time to market for customers while also supporting easy deployment and maintenance thus reducing cost.
